The South Coast Metro area is one of five unique sections of Costa Mesa. The South Coast Metro area is the name given to the area surrounding the South Coast Plaza Mall. This area can also include a portion of the residences in the neighboring city of Santa Ana. The borders of the South Coast Metro area are Sunflower Boulevard on the north, Baker Street on the south, Harbor Boulevard on the west and where the 405 Freeway meets the 73 Freeway on the east. Most neighborhoods in the South Coast Metro community were built in the late 1960’s and early 1970’s, soon after the mall constructed in 1966. There are approximately 29 different neighborhoods in South Coast Metro, including condo complexes, townhome communities and single family home neighborhoods. In addition to the South Coast Plaza Mall, the South Coast Metro area is home to many business and restaurants. Of all the Costa Mesa sections, the South Coast Metro area has the best access to shopping and dining options. Many major companies are headquartered in the South Coast Metro neighborhood including Experian, Deloitte, Mercedes Benz and ETrade.
